Cane Toads and Sunshine

So, its still rainy here in Townsville. This past weekend we all stayed at Sarah's place and found this little Irish Pub not too unlike O'Leary's back home. It was GREAT. They had a little band playing everything from Elvis to CCR to Pink Floyd! And on the way home we caught a few Cane Toads. Now for those of you who dont understand the meanign of Cane toads here it is:

Cane Toad were introduced into Australia (~1935) right arounf where I am in an attempt to rid sugar cane feilds of cane beetles but turns out the beetles live INSIDE the cane thus the toads cant get at them. Also, these toads are poisonous. Since there are lots of frog.toad eating species of snakes and goannas here as well, they tried to eat the cane toads but most can't handle the poison and die. The toads have spread lie crazy and have really messed up the native populations.

SO...Cane toads are a menace and a threat to Asutralian wildlife, meant to be killed at every possible chance. Ie, see one on the road, swerve to hit it!

Anyhow, due to my longtime love affair with Australia, Cane toads have been this icon to me for goodness knwo how long. I've seen my share of dead ones onteh roads so far but this was my first time catching a live one. Ps: must! wash hands after handeling adn don't sqeeze the venom glands! (Jaime's cousin got burns in his eye one night killing Canetoads)

Anyhow here we are, me with a cone toad:

Plus, I leave for Brisbane tomorrow after my Orientation Session, won't be back till the 19th, with lots of picture of Australia Zoo.
